Get ready for some exciting changes in the world of 'Chicago Fire'! We've got some big news about a beloved character's departure and a new addition to the team. But here's where it gets controversial... Dermot Mulroney, who plays Battalion Chief Dominick "Dom" Pascal, will be taking a break from the show for part of Season 14. Don't worry, he'll be back, but for now, fans will have to say goodbye to his character for a while. Sources tell us that Pascal will last appear in the upcoming 14th episode, with a break that will take him into the end of the season, when he may return. We understand that scripts for the last episodes have yet to be finalized. Mulroney will appear in the just confirmed upcoming crossover event (Episode 13) between the One Chicago shows: Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D., airing Wednesday, March 4 from 8-11 p.m. ET/PT. While Pascal is away, fans will meet a new addition to the series, to be played by Rob Morgan (Mudbound, The Last Black Man in San Francisco). In a recurring role, Morgan will play Battalion Chief Hopkins, who has a long, haunted past in overseeing several Chicago firehouses and is quick to assert authority over his colleagues. He will make his Chicago Fire debut in Episode 16 and will appear in four episodes, including the season finale. We hear that Mulroney’s hiatus is part of Pascal’s storyline and that viewers will understand more about the decision and Hopkins’ overall role in the season as the story plays out. Cast pickup decisions for a potential 15th season of Chicago Fire aren’t being discussed at this time, as the show has yet to be officially renewed, sources tell me. But here's the part most people miss... While Mulroney joined the hit firefighter procedural in July of 2024, following Eamonn Walker’s exit as a series regular, his character's leadership style differs from Boden’s (Walker), but he eventually earned the trust and respect of his crew at Firehouse 51. So, what do you think? Are you excited to see what happens next? And this is the part most people miss... In addition to his work on Chicago Fire, Mulroney is a series regular on the Netflix drama series The Hunting Wives, playing Jed Banks. The show’s upcoming second season started production in November and has been filming concurrently with Chicago Fire. It is expected to premiere later this year. Now, here's a thought-provoking question for you: What do you think about the decision to have Pascal take a break? Do you think it will affect his relationship with his crew? Or do you think it's just a natural part of the story? Let us know in the comments below!
